For patients · Funded IVF in Ontario
If you live in Ontario and are considering IVF, the province may cover one treatment cycle through the Ontario Fertility Program. Here’s a quick overview of how it works.
New for 2026/27: Ontario has added $100 million to the program, supporting 27 clinics (including new IVF clinics in Brampton and Oakville) and about 10,000 more funded IVF cycles. Wait lists differ from clinic to clinic, so it’s worth asking more than one.

One IVF cycle per patient, per lifetime — including the one-at-a-time transfer of every viable embryo from that cycle. One extra cycle is available to someone acting as a surrogate. IUI is covered with no limit on cycles.
Fertility medications (about $5,000 for an IVF cycle), genetic testing, and storage of eggs, sperm or embryos. Some private or workplace health plans cover part of these costs.
The Ontario Fertility Treatment Tax Credit returns 25% of eligible fertility expenses — up to $5,000 a year on $20,000 of costs — for expenses paid on or after January 1, 2025.
Talk to your doctor, or contact a participating fertility clinic directly. The clinic will confirm your eligibility and guide you onto its funded list.
